This Country Girl by Donna Merriam

My Donna wrote this book called "This Country Girl". This picture of her is the cover of the book. It is a real picture of Donna when she was a little girl. This Country Girl is a true story. It was published by Tate Publishing in November of 2005.
THIS COUNTRY GIRL
ISBN: 1-5988603-5-6

This Country Girl is the true story of an extraordinary, yet ordinary life. It takes a nostalgic step back in time to capture life during and after WW II for a simple farm family near Lostant, Illinois. For Donna, one of four siblings, these events and feelings were meant to be preserved as a memorial to her late parents and extended loving family. This book would especially appeal to all 'baby boomers' and to anyone of any age seeking to learn more about an era quickly fading --- the "greatest generation." Interwoven within these pages the author shares personal decisions about life and relationships with vulnerable candor...even choices she wishes she had made differently. It shows the pitfalls of life that are attractive but yet could have been avoided. It shows lost loves and the trials of marriage. This honest and interesting account includes the rigors of Army Nurse Corp Basic Training during the Vietnam era, followed by a long and rewarding career as a registered nurse. From the first page to the last, the reoccurring theme is the importance of family, faith and personal values...and enough love and adventure for a lifetime for This Country Girl.

Acclaim for:

"In her autobiography, Donna Merriam describes her experiences growing up on the farm, through nursing training and army service, and work in a jail. She candidly describes her life's ups and downs. Her love of life in all of its forms and her love of her family and God permeates all that she describes." Philip Bays

"This book gives us an excellent view of socio/cultural change, and the unique strength of family bonds, through life's ups and downs." Benoni McKnight

"My sister, Donna, freely loves all of God's creatures from the smallest, most fragile bird or animal to the youngest or oldest human being. Loved ones can always count on Donna to be there for them in times of sorrow, sickness or need and to rejoice with them in times of joy. I thank God for such a sister." June Bays

The Foxtail Himself

Gosh! Isn't he good looking? Yeah, this is the old foxtail himself.

Foxtail's

Foxtail's are irritants known to cause serious grief if these little devilish things get up your nose. This blog is dedicated to foxtail's without which we would never change our path. If we never changed there would be no progress, no change, no future to look forward to.

Has someone ever been a foxtail for you? Did they cause you to change your path? Did your life become better or worse for you because of your foxtail? Who was your foxtail?
